QUARTERLY UPDATE OCTOBER 2025

Introduction

Welcome to the third edition of our quarterly update. Thanks to your continued generosity, and that of new supporters who have recently joined us, we are growing fast, enabling us to expand our support for the children at Light House Foundation Nepal (LHFN) and further develop our new child rescue initiatives. We are deeply grateful to all who stand with us on this journey; none of this would be possible without your unwavering commitment.

Fundraising

We raised a total of £29,302 in the third quarter of 2025. Donations primarily comprised regular monthly contributions for child sponsorship and a small number of one-off donations.

Grants

We provide grants totalling £21,585, the majority of which (41.4%) went towards regular monthly support of the children we sponsor at LHFN (up to 47 as of the end of the quarter) and education (35.6%), with the balance split between activities, healthcare and child rescue.

Visits

At the start of July, we welcomed critically acclaimed Australian TV producer Chris Walker to Kathmandu to do some filming. We spent four days with a local film crew (who did amazing work) capturing hours of video of the children showing off their skills: football, basketball, rollerblading, karate, mountain biking, dancing and singing. Chris has already created one fundraising video for us (which hopefully you’ve all seen by now) and will be releasing more over the coming months.

In September, Charlie visited Kathmandu to spend time with the children and work with the schools they attend. She arrived in the midst of large-scale Gen Z demonstrations which, as you know, soon turned violent. Charlie spent three days confined to her hotel room, watching fires burn across the city and wondering when she would be allowed out. In the end, she was able to spend a reinvigorating two days with the girls in the hostel, who thankfully were not affected by the demonstrations other than missing a few days of school.

New Friends

We were joined in July by Anna-Maria Gibson, who had recently completed her A Levels in Abu Dhabi and was keen to support our work in Nepal before starting university. Anna-Maria built an immediate bond with our sponsored girls, spending time chatting, laughing and joining in their daily routines. The girls were drawn to her warmth and curiosity, and it was heartening to see how quickly she became part of their world. She even joined them in the rice fields for some hands-on harvesting — much to everyone’s delight! We look forward to welcoming her back to Kathmandu one day soon.

Activities

As mentioned above, we packed in multiple activities over the course of four days of filming in early July. The kids love getting out of the hostels and being active. And it’s great to see how they all support each other, whether celebrating a goal, picking a friend up off the floor of the rollerblading hall or filming a TikTok video!

We also had the opportunity to join the children on a visit to the local cinema to watch a popular Hindi film. They all got dressed up, and their laughter was infectious as they followed the story of a hapless basketball team rising from no-hopers to champions. It was a great evening that perfectly captured the message we share with them every day: you can be anyone you want to be, no matter where you come from.

It’s always fun to celebrate a birthday, and we had the opportunity to enjoy three – Anjali, Gaurie and Sushmita! We also learned that the kids like to put birthday cake on people’s faces, apparently a local custom (but we’re not convinced!).
