QUARTERLY UPDATE MAY 2026
Welcome to the latest edition of our quarterly update. Thanks to your continued generosity, and that of new supporters who have recently joined us, we are growing fast, enabling us to expand our support for the children at Light House Foundation Nepal (LHFN) and further develop our new child rescue programme. We are deeply grateful to all who stand with us on this journey; none of this would be possible without your unwavering commitment.
Fundraising
We raised a total of £126,415 in the full year 2025 and £47,771 in the first quarter of 2026. Donations in Q4 2025 were primarily linked to our child rescue programme and our Breaking the Cycle fundraiser. We also continue to receive regular monthly contributions for child sponsorship from a growing number of dedicated supporters.
Grants
We provided grants totalling £20,486 in Q1 2026, split mainly between regular monthly support of the children we sponsor at LHFN (61%), education (22%) and child rescue (4%). We expect the funding for child rescue to increase significantly in the coming months as we ramp up our activities in this area.
News
Sixteen of our sponsored children recently passed their SEE (Secondary Education Examination) exams, Nepal’s national examinations taken at the end of Grade 10, marking an important milestone in their education. The students are now preparing to begin Grade 11 / high school, with most planning to study hotel management, while others will pursue business or computer science.
In April, Suman and James were honoured to meet with Sita Badi, Nepal’s newly appointed Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the first person from the historically marginalised Badi community to hold a federal ministerial position. Having personally experienced caste discrimination and social exclusion, Sita is now playing an important role in advancing women’s rights, child protection and anti-trafficking efforts in Nepal.
Fitch Projects
In September 2025, we partnered with Fitch Group (the global credit ratings agency) to deliver essential supplies to a rural school in western Nepal, located in the same region where many of our sponsored children are from. Together, we provided 121 students with new school bags, stationery sets, water bottles and track suits to support their education.
In February 2026, Fitch asked to partner on a second project, this time to deliver stationery and other materials for an adult literacy course being run by the same school we support last year. The projects were managed by our very own Suman Khadka, who oversaw procurement and visited the school in person to meet the students and distribute the various materials. We appreciate Fitch Global’s continued support for education in Nepal and look forward to future collaboration.
