Summer Visit

Our July trip to Nepal was packed with excitement, adventure, and the deep sense of reconnection that comes from being back in a place that holds so much meaning. The trip was filled with activities that not only brought joy to the children but also strengthened the bonds between everyone involved.

One of the highlights was taking the children to Jump KTM, the trampoline park, where they had an absolute blast. Their energy was boundless as they bounced around, trying flips and other tricks, their smiles lighting up the whole space. It was a day of pure joy and fun, offering the kids a rare chance to let loose.

We also took the kids to a climbing wall, and what an experience that was! The children amazed us with their determination and climbing skills—seriously, these kids can climb! Watching them conquer the heights with such enthusiasm was a reminder of their resilience and spirit.

We also spent time making bracelets with the children, a more relaxed but equally meaningful activity. As we sat together designing and crafting, it gave us all a chance to connect in a personal and creative way. Another highlight was collecting blue and red handprints from the children, which will be used in future fundraising efforts. Each handprint is a beautiful reminder of the individuality and potential of these amazing young people.

The trip was made even more special by the return of Paul to Kathmandu—his first visit since 2015! He was joined by his colleague Kirsty, who has now become a fully-fledged member of the Nepal fan club and we hope will be back soon.

We were also delighted to welcome the ‘Frenchies’ from Clan St. Charles de Foucauld, an inspiring group of young adults based in London who spent two weeks with Light House Foundation. During their stay, they painted, cooked, farmed, danced, taught, and played sports with the children. Their energy and kindness made them incredibly popular, and their contributions left a lasting impact on everyone. The kids keep asking when they are coming back!

In addition, we had the pleasure of organising a day’s barista training at Lost Paradise Cafe for six of the girls from Our Home Nepal. The training was an empowering experience, equipping them with valuable skills that could help them in the future. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they learned the art of making coffee, and they took great pride in mastering the techniques.

Finally, we had the opportunity to meet Terry from Venture, a long-standing supporter of Light House Foundation. Terry’s commitment to the cause has been unwavering, and it was a pleasure to deepen our friendship with him during this trip. His support has been invaluable, and we’re excited about future collaborations.

This trip was a perfect blend of fun, creativity, and meaningful connections. It reinforced why we do what we do and reminded us of the impact that every single person can make when they come together with a shared purpose.
